The Wedding Company is a luxury destination wedding planner and event designer based in Germany.
The Wedding Company curates exclusive luxury weddings worldwide for an international clientele seeking refinement, individuality and exceptional quality.
Laura of Studio Blanche reached out to me towards the end of 2025 about The Wedding Company project. The client, Sonja, had worked with Laura before and the existing website was beautiful, but as her business continued to grow she was looking at switching to a different platform that could scale better with her needs than Wix.
I’d previously worked with Laura on website builds for RÖ Skin and Sacred Hour and I love Laura’s design style, so when her enquiry dropped in my inbox I knew I wanted to work with her again. Laura created the website designs in Adobe XD and I turned them into a fully-functioning WordPress website.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the highlights of The Wedding Company website:

Custom pages built using the WordPress block editor
The new website features a variety of bespoke pages including Home, About, Experience and Contact. All pages utilises the block editor that is built into WordPress, eliminating the need for slow and clunky third-party page builder plugins. Using the designs Laura provided me with, I created a collection of custom blocks that can be reused across the whole website, and styled the default WordPress blocks to ensure that they match the design of the website seamlessly.

I also developed a Portfolio page that is powered by a custom post type, making it a breeze for the client to add more weddings to their website.
Fully customisable and reusable RSVP page
The Wedding Company wanted to be able to create custom RSVP pages on the website for each of their clients’ weddings. These RSVP pages can be shared with the guests for each wedding, and they include all the key information about the wedding including venues, dress codes, travel information and accommodation options.
Like all the other pages on the website, the RSVP pages are built using custom blocks for the block editor, allowing Sonja and her team to tailor each page for each wedding with all of the relevant information.

Unique RSVP forms for each wedding
Each RSVP page also features its own RSVP form that guests can use to let Sonja and the couple know who will be attending the wedding and what their preferences are for food. The forms are built using the WPForms plugin, allowing Sonja to easily customise each form for each wedding using their user-friendly drag-and-drop interface.

As well as receiving an email when a guest submits the form, Sonja is also able to access all the form submissions in one place via the WordPress admin area, and export a list of all the form submissions as a CSV file that she can open in Excel.
Migrating from Wix to WordPress
There was quite a bit of technical work required behind the scenes as we were moving the website from Wix to WordPress. As well as the previous website being set up on Wix, the domain was also registered there and their Google Workspace account for emails had also been set up via the same Wix account.
Sonja wanted to be completely free of Wix (I cannot blame her!) so we needed to transfer the domain to another registrar; one that would support the .de domain, which not all domain registrars do. Her Google Workspace account was also set up through Wix, so we needed to liaise with Wix support to get them to release the email account.
Transferring domains and handling email accounts can be a stressful experience but I supported Sonja through the whole process and we made the switch without any website or email downtime. Sonja was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process; transfers like this are a collaborative effort and she was amazing!
Moving from a multilingual site to a single-language setup
The previous version of The Wedding Company website was a multilingual website. The primary website was in German, and there was a subdomain for the English version of the website (en.theweddingcompany.de).
Sonja wanted the new website to only be available in English ,so this meant we needed to set up all of the relevant redirects to ensure that if anyone tried to visit the old URLs that contained German or that linked to the English subdomain, they would be redirected to the correct page on the new website. This is also really important for SEO, ensuring that Google isn’t trying to crawl pages that no longer exist.
Highly optimised for fast loading times
Speaking of SEO, we all know how important website speed is when it comes to ranking in search results.
You might think that a website featuring videos and lots of large, high-quality images presented in carousels and sliders would be slow to load, but that’s absolutely not the case with this website.
The Wedding Company website can be fully loaded in just 1 second according to GTmetrix, which is very fast!

These are the kinds of results we can achieve when we build the website with speed in mind, by creating a custom WordPress theme from scratch and opting for the WordPress block editor instead of clunky third-party page builders.
Another factor that plays a key role in the loading time of a WordPress website is hosting. I recommended that Sonja purchase her website hosting from Krystal, which I actually use to host my own website, as they provide fast website hosting solutions at a reasonable price.
Here are some kind words from Laura about what it’s like working with me…

Her custom WordPress development skills are unmatched, and she always ensures that every project is delivered on time and follows the design perfectly. Her communication and organisation are exceptional, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. Both we and our clients are always happy with the results. We highly recommend Holly to anyone looking for a talented and reliable developer!”
