WordPress Website Development: Resumeology

Let me take you behind the scenes of a bespoke WordPress website I created for Resumeology; professional resume writers.

Resumeology crafts professional resumes aimed at landing job seekers their dream jobs. It is owned by Irina Scarborough, a former Fortune 500 Recruiter, who provides professional resume writing and career coaching services through Resumeology.

Irina was referred to me by Kaye Huett, the branding and web designer behind Kaye Does Logos, who I have worked with on numerous other website projects, and was excited to collaborate with Kaye once again.

Irina’s existing WordPress website used a pre-made theme, and while it looked tidy and clean, it didn’t feel very unique. It was time to give it a revamp and inject some personality, and Kaye truly delivered with a fun yet professional website design.

Let’s take a closer look at a couple of my favourite features of the Resumeology website:

Packages comparison table

Irina needed a way to present her services so that they could be easily compared by potential clients. She also wanted to offer two different prices for each service (standard pricing and expedited pricing for a quicker turnaround), so I created a toggle functionality that allows users to easily switch between the two pricing options.

Process slider

Also on the services page is a slider that makes it easy to understand Irina’s process for her services:

Each step has its own slide, and you can easily navigate from one step to the next to learn more about the process.

FAQ page

Irina had a lot of questions to answer, so Kaye designed an easy-to-navigate FAQ page that is broken down into sections. I created a navigation menu that sticks to the side of the page as you scroll down. When a section is in view, it is highlighted in the menu, and you can also use these links to jump to the relevant section.

And of course, it’s really easy for Irina to add additional sections and FAQs to this page using the WordPress block editor without needing to touch any code.

Here are some kind words from Irina herself…

“Holly is very knowledgeable about all things web development and was extremely patient when it comes to making changes, tweaks and adjustments. My WordPress website is so easy to update on the backend thanks how she coded it, the plugins she picked, and how she organized everything. To add to this, she also added in videos and organized them into a course style tutorial so that I can quickly reference whenever I feel stuck. She answered all of my questions, and I had many! She was open to feedback, but also jumped in and offered her own suggestions. She’s a great partner to have when you’re working on your business website! She’d be a great fit for anyone just starting out, someone a little more experienced, and everyone in between! Holly’s a true professional in all aspects!”
